Introduced by Philips in the 90’s, this CDR format was designed to make audio recordings simple, quick and computer free. The specially designed stand alone decks can be connected to other play only CDR machines, to make recordings.
Regular CDR’s will not burn in these machines and CDR Audio disks have to be used, which have a special inscription so the machine recognizes the medium. This is due to Philips paying a royalty fee per disc. These discs can be used in place of normal CDR’s for use in computers (but only record at real time). |
