DVD Random Access Memory was launched in 1996, and is now widely used in computers and camcorders. It is generally considered to be the most reliable format as they have a built in error management system.
The main advantage this over is rivals (DVD-RW / DVD+RW) are that it is has a longer data retention of 30 years, can be written on over 100,000 times, has write protection tabs to prevent deleting, fast access of data and is available with or without the protective caddy.
