Blank DVD comes in many drive speeds ranging from 1X to 24X, as the number goes higher it will increase the speed of writing data. Main use of DVD is video and data storage and can store 5-6 times of data as compared to normal compact disks.
DVD blank discs come in two types, first is normal DVDs in which information once stored can not be erased and second one is rewritable DVDs in which we can write and erase data many times.

Printable CD`s & DVD`s media comes in 3 different types of surface:
1. Inkjet Printable CD-R:
These CDR’s come in three options, white printable, silver printable and gold printable. This has an ink absorbent surface which is an additional coat on top of a thermal printable surface.
For the most part inkjet printable CD-R surfaces appear matte in finish. Printable CD discs come in both a standard print diameter and a hub printable CD (full face printable). This allows printing right up to the centre hub (hole) on the disc. The drying characteristic of the printable CD tends to make the printable surface off white.
Silver printable CDs special feature is its 3-D effect on the disc label. Silver inkjet tends to mute the colours down a bit but is very eye-catching with the reflection.

2. Thermal printable CD-R
These types of blanks discs come in a shiny silver and white printable surface. Some special surfaces are available in other colours (you name it) but requires special coating. This can be done as a special order.

3. Thermal Re-Transfer CDR
Thermal re-transfer printable CD media is similar to thermal printable media except it has additional coatings on the label printing surface to protect it against the heat of the CD printer. It is a specialized type of printable CD media that is made for production thermal retransfer like the Rimage Everest CD printer and the Teac P-55 dye-sublimation printer.
Thermal printable discs can not be interchanged to an inkjet printer although inkjet printable discs can be printed on with fair results. The right disc for the printer makes all the difference.

Blu-ray Disc is an optical disc storage media format and is used like its predecessors (CDR and DVD) for storing data and video. The name Blu-ray is derived from the blue laser used in the machine. Because of its shorter wavelength (405 nm), more data can be stored on a Blu-ray Disc than on a DVD which uses a red (650 nm) laser. As with Betamax and VHS, Blu ray has beaten its competitor HD DVD, which was launched at a similar date. Because the Blu-ray Disc data layer is closer to the surface of the disc, compared to a DVD, they were housed in cartridges for protection. They no longer have cartridges due to the advances in polymer technology.
As Blu-Ray media is growing in demand we have reduced TDK BD-R & TDK BD-RE the cheapest you can get online
TDK BD-R 25GB only £ 5.79
TDK BD-R 50 GB only £ 12.99
TDK BD-RE 25 GB only £ 6.99

“If I had a penny for every time we were asked this question.”
Is there a difference between music CD-R`s and traditional Computer data CD-Rs?
I think what people really want to know is if I buy a data CDR can I still put audio on it and vice versa. Well, hopefully I shall explain all and help you buy the right disc in the future.
The simple answer to this question is yes.
If you are using a PC to do all of your burning, then it doesn’t matter. PCs do not differentiate between music CD-Rs and data CD-Rs. They simply see a blank disc and duplicate information on to it. Thus both audio and data discs can be used in a computer based burner, however there may be some issues about burning data on music CDR’s due to the software and hardware used.
However, if you are using a separate home CD burner, that is not connected to a PC, it may or may not allow you to burn data/music onto a generic blank data/music CDR. Most of these machines take Audio/Music only discs, and will only function with this type.
The technical difference is what is embedded in blank music CDs in comparison to blank data CDs. These embedded differences centre upon bytes within the sub channels of the actual blank music disc.
So my advice is if you are doing most of your CD duplication on the computer, it doesn’t matter which type of blank CDR you use. They both will work fine in most cases for storing audio and data. However, if you are using a CD writer outside of your computer for you burning needs, check the manual and see what they recommend, but it should be a music only CDR

“As we sit here staring into space, we wonder what future products we would be selling on Totalblankmedia“
Predicting the future is never easy, for if it was, having a flutter on the horses would be licence to print money. (Remember Biff from Back to the Future).
In the 60’s and 70’s, many people expected that we would have inhabited other planets and even started to fly. Within technology, most of the gadgets seen in futuristic films are now visible. There is the “Iris” machine at Heathrow that scans your eyes to verify your details. No need for your passport.
With hardrives now getting bigger and more powerful, and the internet gateway that allowing world in your room, the future is endless. Who knows, maybe we’ll get Spectacles to replace Television sets.
One thing I can be sure of, is that Totalblankmedia will be the first to have it !!!

A disc that can store 500 gigabytes (GB) of data, equivalent to 100 DVDs, has been unveiled by General Electric.
The micro-holographic disc, which is the same size as existing DVD discs, is aimed at the archive industry.
But the company believes it can eventually be used in the consumer market place and home players.
Blu-ray discs, which are used to store high definition movies and games, can currently hold between 25GB and 50GB.
Micro-holographic discs can store more data than DVDs or Blu-ray because they store information on the disc in three dimensions, rather than just pits on the surface of the disc
The challenge for this area of technology has been to increase the reflectivity of the holograms that are stored on the discs so that players can be used to both read and write to the discs.
